The Heat Exchanger Liquid (HXL) Test System is a highly sophisticated platform developed to measure the thermal performance of heat exchangers using a liquid, typically water or water/glycol on the primary side.
This approach replaces the use of refrigerants and provides a more practical, but still exceptionally accurate, stable, and repeatable way to quantify heat transfer.
The system can test all types of heat exchangers, including:
- Condensers (foamed-in, static, forced air)
- Evaporators (foamed-in, static, forced air)
- Door frame heaters
- Optional testing in a wind tunnel for forced-air heat exchangers
Importantly, heat exchangers can be tested while installed in their normal position inside the appliance, ensuring realistic, system-relevant performance data.
Heat exchangers require precise control over liquid temperature across a wide operating envelope of heating and cooling capacities. The HXL delivers exceptional stability, enabling repeatable and highly accurate measurements.
